Atawallpa Oviedo

Atawallpa was born on the side of the volcano Chimborazo, in the Puruha Nation, a region of Chinchaysuyo, currently known as Ecuador. His town is called Chambo, but it is commonly know as the “land of the shamans.” In his eagerness to seek “justice for the defenceless,” he studied law, and obtained the title of Doctor of Jurisprudence, but he immediately realised that justice did not exist. In the middle of that disenchantment, and at an early age, life put him in contact with a yachak, who shared with him the “path of the sage.” From there, he went farther down the path and awakened to a series of teachings of wisdom, particularly from the WAKAKUE.

Atawallpa promoted the birth of the “Association of the Travelers of the Rainbow,” and more recently also the “Sumak Movement.” Sumakawsay is a way of life that is guided by a system based on the harmony of complements, breaking with the current system that is sustained by the fighting of opposing parties.

From there, he went farther down the path and awakened to a series of teachings of wisdom, particularly from the WAKAKUE. In addition, one day he also awaked the healer within and he began to practice energy and psycho-spiritual therapies. On his path, Atawallpa has promoted the path of Andean initiation, and he organized the first meeting of ancestral Andean healers in Quito. He was the first to introduce the teachings of Andean medicine in the field of socio-anthropology at the Faculty of Medicine at the Central University. Moreover, he created the first center for Andean studies at Quito.

All the therapies that he has learned and that he has awakened to he has systematised in what he calls Kontixi Therapies, which will soon be published in a new book.

Atawallpa promoted the birth of the “Association of the Travelers of the Rainbow,” and more recently also the “Sumak Movement,” which is a holistic organization that promotes Sumakawsay, the Culture of Life, so that the ancestral and natural Harmonious System will be restored again to every corner of Mother Earth. This system has already been experienced by all of the solar and lunar peoples of the world for more than 10,000 years. Sumakawsay is a way of life that is guided by a system based on the harmony of complements, breaking with the current system that is sustained by the fighting of opposing parties.

Andean Matrix of Life

The Andean world has a vertical and horizontal view of life. From the vertical view, the world unfolds in two spheres 'Ukhu Pacha', the world of below or of the Earth, and 'Hanan Pacha', the world of above or of the cosmos. From the complementarity between the two was born a third world, known as 'Kay Pacha', the world of here and now.
